Review of The Great Wolf Lodge, Washington

A stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, Washington is focused around the hotel’s fantastic water park attraction. There are many other activities to keep the family busy, all located within the walls of the northwoods themed lodge.

The Rooms

Family suites are available with two queen sized beds, fireplaces and outdoor decks. The Kid Kamp, Wolf Den and Kid Cabin suites are styled to look like camps and log cabins. Bunk beds and private flat screen tvs add to the fun. The Grizzly Bear suites are great for big families, or small groups, as they have two private bedrooms, two full baths and three tvs. Room prices vary based on time of year and specific suite chosen.

The WaterPark

Water Slides

The water park itself boasts 60,000 square feet of water-filled fun. Four people at a time can scream down the 6 story ride of the Howlin’ Tornado, then splash up the 30 foot sides of the funnel. Alberta Falls is only slightly less thrilling at 4 stories high. For those little ones, four feet and under, there are two great kiddie slides they will want to ride again and again.

Pools

The wave pool features zero-depth entry with a maximum depth of five feet. The waves get up to three feet high.

There is a zero-depth entry kiddie pool with a maximum of one foot depth for the littlest of water lovers. There are mini slides here, and plenty of water fountains and geysers to keep them interested.
The Chinook Cove Recreational pool has basketball hoops, water noodles and assorted rafts to play on. Hot tubs are also available to relax in.

Life Preservers are available free of charge for the kids.

Other Fun Activities

Clock Tower

The animatronic Clock Tower in the main lobby puts on a show for the kids at 10:00 am, then again at 8:00 and 9:00 at night, with story time right after the 8:00 pm show. Pajama wearing is strongly encouraged.

MagiQuest

Magiquest is a one of a kind, live action, adventure game. A wand ($14.99) and game ($9.99) must be purchased to play, but will provide hours of fun in the quest for the dragon.

Cub Club

The Cub Club is great for kids from ages 5 to 12 to make crafts, learn about nature, or take part in fun programs such as Backyard Birdies or become a Junior Lifeguard.

Spas

Scooops (not a misspelling) Kids Spa is great for those under 12 who are looking for a little pampering. The adults will be more interested in the Elements Spa and Salon, which offers a full service Aveda spa menu.

Shopping

There are many opportunities for shopping within the lodge: a swim shop, gift shop, and several others.

Food and Beverages

The Great Wolf Lodge has several eating areas, including a snack shop in the pool area, Pizza Hut, a bakery style café, two sit down restaurants and a Starbucks. The food at the restaurants is a casual menu of burgers, different pastas, soups and salads. Camp Critter restaurant offers many fun food items for kids.

A Fun Place for Families

One of the benefits of the Great Wolf Lodge is never having to leave the hotel to eat, be entertained, or do a little shopping. Not having to drive while on vacation is appealing to many. It’s not the best place for the littlest kids, 1 to 3 year olds, as they are limited in what they can do but overall it is a fun family destination. The Great Wolf Lodge is located about 1.5 hours north of Portland, or 1.5 hours south of Seattle, in Grand Mound, Washington. Their address is 20500 Old Highway 99 SW, Grand Mound, WA, 98531.
